Get up. Turn the kettle on.
Get the kids up.
Quickly jump in the shower and get dressed.
Must check the email.
Oh, what are those notifications on facebook.
Look at the time.
What are the kids up to?
Oh no, playing computer games.
Better get breakfast quickly.
Where does the time go?
Why do I always feel so stressed?
It’s like I struggle to even find time to take a deep breath.
I bet just reading that makes you feel a little stressed.
Even though this may not be your exact experience, I know there are many of you, who have simiarly chaotic mornings – leading to chaotic days.
Is this really the life you want for yourself?
While I don’t have kids, I can still fall into the trap of doing things that tend to be outside of me, before taking the time to fill myself up with what I need.
The Media Frenzy
We live in a world now where we are so bombarded with messages; from tv, radio, billboards, email, facebook, telephone calls, texts, check this website, check that website. When does it stop?
The thing is a lot of the stuff we are putting our time into is really not that important, but it seems that many of us are not stopping and asking ourselves in each moment, what we need. Myself included, at times.
Somewhere out there in the abyss of our minds are our true dreams and desires, our authentic self. The part that wants to create, and connect deeply with ourselves and others. The part that wants real meaning in our lives. The part that wants to be of service to the world in the way that fills us up. In the meantime, many of us continue to stay in jobs we don’t like, to pay for our too large mortgage, so we can have the home and the lifestyle that we think can make us happy. Many of us also stay in relationships that we know don’t serve us, we have friends in our life who are not supportive of us, and we jump from one activity to the next, trying desperately to fill that emotional void inside of us.
Is the Doing on Things You Do Want to be Doing?
Doing, doing, doing.
So much doing and what is a lot of it all really for?
The result is, a potential to become burnt out, to live a life that is not about staying in your own place of power, and reacting to others needs, desires and wants for you.
STOP
At this point, can I say
STOP.
Stop the doing.
Stop the searching.
Stop the constant time with technology.
Just stop.
Let’s find some balance.
BE.
Let’s just BE.
That feels better already doesn’t it.
Breathe
Take a moment now, as you’re reading this, and take 3 full conscious breaths. Be aware of your whole body as you are doing so. Become aware of any areas of tension in your body, and let everything go as you breath out.
We have so many tools right inside of us, to quickly and easily bring us back into balance.
Let your nervous system calm down.
Let your natural life force emerge.
Let yourself feel that peace and calm that is always inside of you, whenever you are willing to tap into it.
What if every hour you stopped and took three conscious, deep breaths?
It’s not like we have to find time for that now, is it?
How would you feel?
By bringing awareness to ourselves, so much shifts inside of us.
Positive physiological changes occur, and you will feel that you have a brighter, calmer, more peaceful outlook on life.
Cultivate a Regular Practice that Serves You
Let me say here, that this is not something to do just once, it is something you need to do regularly. You need to become conscious and aware of yourself, continually breathing your own breath of life into your magnificent being.
As you find this place inside of you, you are more able to tap into your own intuition, to hear the messages from Spirit (the Universe, God, the Divine, Source – whatever you like to call this Presence that is within and around us) and you are more clearly able to hear the incredible next steps that are here for you on your journey.
If the foundations of your life are not stable (which very often is the case in those suffering from adrenal fatigue or burnout), it may be necessary for you to rebuild from the ground up. It can be a messy process, as some things may have to crumble, in order to start again. However, this is an essential process in healing from burnout. And please, forgive yourself for all that has happened.
Creating this regular, connected time with yourself will help you to understand what you need to do next.
There are also many tools out there to help calm your nervous system and to bring your adrenals back into balance and this is one of my favourites.
I also love this one by Cheryl Richardson, have used this one many times. It has a 10, 20 or 30 minute track on it so you choose what feels good for you.
There is always support here for you.
Start with what is in your own heart, your own peace, your own stillness, your own sense of clarity.
It is all there inside of you.
As you connect with yourself, very often you will find that others connect with you as well, and you will be supported in the exact way that you need to be.
It’s time to find a whole new balance of doing and being.
I know you can do it!!

P.S. Take that time to stop. It will change your life.
P.P.S. If you need a little help, get someone else’s soothing voice to guide you on your way. Dr Lam (for specific adrenal fatigue breathwork) and Cheryl Richardson for a general chilling out time.
