Are you the kind of person who is inspired by reading books?
Are you always listening out to what others are reading and what you can add to your own list?
I, like many of you, LOVE reading.
I feel supported, nurtured, informed and very often inspired when I read, and I love to get a viewpoint that may well be in alignment with what I think, but I also value those that get me to think in a different way.
This year, I have read or listened my way through many books and I wanted to share with you my top 10 healing books for the year, the inspirational books that really caught my attention and also very much helped me to continue on my healing from burnout journey. These are not necessarily new releases, but rather books I came across this year that really resonated with me, and which may too resonate with you! Some of them are related to health and adrenal fatigue and others are just what inspires me on my journey in being the best person I can be!
Even though this was written around 60 years ago (and there is some dated language to get used to), it was an incredibly inspiring read in helping to change my thinking. If you really want tons and tons of ways to help change your thinking through reading the stories and experiences of others, really give this a go. Top, top, read and extremely inspirational!!
Adrenal Fatigue Syndrome – Reclaim Your Energy and Vitality with Clinically Proven Natural Programs. By Dr Michael Lam.
I have talked about this book in my recommended resources page on my website. I was so excited when I came across this book this year. It is jam packed with everything you could possibly want to know on adrenal fatigue. And yes I admit, you really need to be wanting intricate information to enjoy reading this, but wow finding a doctor who understands adrenal fatigue in an intricate was just incredible. I finally felt like someone actually got it! The purchase of the book was great value too with online modules available for each chapter and the first two lessons of Dr Lam’s Adrenal Yoga program also available. If you are not up for buying this huge book on adrenal fatigue, you can instead buy individual sections of the book that may be of particular interest to you. Check out my recommended resources page for the smaller books you can get.
Well, Louise Hay is legendary in my eyes and was a primary factor in my setting upon a more thoughtful and spiritually guided path in my life. Dr Mona Lisa Schulz, her co-author, is highly intuitive and has an incredible insight into the human body’s physical conditions and the underlying and associated emotional issues that are going on. I did in fact have the pleasure of speaking to Dr Mona Lisa Schulz on her Hay House Radio Show a couple of years back when I needed help about aspects of my healing from burnout journey. She made the point to me during this conversation that I had to work on gaining more self-esteem in order to fully heal adrenal fatigue. This is a very insightful book and such a great reference book to have.
I love books that really get in to the whole life purpose thing. It’s surely why we’re here. If we can’t find the path that we’re truly meant to be on, I truly believe that’s when we experience illness and upset far more than we’re meant to. It’s a short read and this book has been out for a number of years, but wow, do yourself a favour and read it. You will be inspired!
A few months back I took myself on a silent retreat at home for two days, and I picked up this book which had been sitting on my shelf for some time. It is a collection of short, heartwarming stories. It was so beautiful, and as I was in such a quiet space at the time, I was really receptive to the love and beauty that came from these stories. A wonderful way to connect with that deeper part of you.
Another short read, but wow what a profound read, and things to reflect on for a lifetime. The Four Agreements are a discussion of “Be Impeccable with Your Word”, “Don’t Take Anything Personally”, “Don’t Make Assumptions” and “Always Do Your Best”. I tell you what, if you could change just one little thing in your life from reading this book, it would be worth it. A lot to ponder from it, such powerful and impactful words and concepts. I Loved it!
This is great spiritual literature written back in about the 1920s. Florence talks a lot about prosperity on all levels – health, relationships, finances and the thought processes that you need to create to bring this about in your life. If you enjoy looking at life from a spiritual perspective as I do, you will love this. Any book that talks about ways of creating better thoughts and a better life, including health, is a win for me! Once you get used to the language, a great read!
I first heard about Donna on her Hay House Radio Show and I was really fascinated by her approach to healing candida, something I have suffered with for many years, and something that needed my attention at the start of the year. Many of us who have suffered from adrenal fatigue and other debilitating conditions offen have candida as a side effect and Donna has a very unique and effective way of looking at how to heal this. While I don’t practice her diet strictly, I did find parts of it very effective for my own health. This is always an individual situation and you always need to do what feels right for you. But if you are suffering with candida, Donna’s book is definitely worth a read. You can also find out more about her at www.bodyecology.com
Ok, I love the teachings of Abraham, with comes through Esther Hicks. You definitely need to be open to a spiritual way of looking at life and once you get used to the fact that non-physical beings are communicating through Esther Hicks, you will realise that what they have to say is incredible. Not for everyone, but my top 10 book list would not be complete without this. The teachings of Abraham have helped turn my life around, to help me see life from a bigger, universal, perspective. Check it out, see for yourself and take it or leave it. For me however, this gets 5 stars!!
Lissa has come from a very medical background and needing a scientific approach to everything. But wow her life changed dramatically through her own health experiences, and she presents great data in the book that puts together the most amazing approach about what we need to do, to create health and healing in our lives. It’s books like these, that really are the life changers on your healing journey; mine included! Must read if you really want to heal from the inside out.
I hope you enjoy these as much as I did.
