Do you find yourself wondering how some people seem to maintain a state of good health, not only physically but also mentally and emotionally?
And if there are challenging situations in their lives, how they seem to find ways to come back to balance?
While no-one has it all plain sailing, there are definitely certain traits that make living a healthy life a whole lot easier and dealing with things that come your way a whole lot more manageable.
These 7 important traits that I believe are found in healthy people are crucial in helping you to PERMANENTLY recover from adrenal fatigue and burnout. They are also extremely valuable for every human being in living a rich and healthy life.
1. Healthy People Work in Partnership with their Health Care Practitioners
A healthy person understands the value of a partner/s when it comes to assisting them in any issues with their health and wellbeing.
Many of us have grown up in a generation when it was natural to hand over your power to your doctor. It was supposedly up to them to “fix us”. While medicine has made incredible advancements especially in areas that require emergency type treatments, there is still a lot that needs to happen in terms of treating the whole person. Taking into consideration a holistic approach which includes a person’s physical, mental and emotional aspects is an essential part of a healthy body.
Your health care practitioner does not always have all the answers for your unique body. They are there to provide you with helpful ideas and suggestions based on their knowledge and experience, but the input from you as the person in your body is equally if not more important.
Working with health care practitioners who treat you from a holistic perspective, considering all that may be going on in your life is the way forward. I encourage you to find practitioners who are opening to hearing what you have to say and working in a healthy partnership with you.
2. Healthy People Take Structured Time Every Day for their Physical, Emotional and Mental Needs
What is needed to help maintain a healthy body is not left to chance. Healthy people carve out the time to dedicate to these important areas.
For example, making time for purchasing and preparing quality food is a planned part of each day. If you’re in a position to assign someone to help you with this, then that is fine. The point is, this is given careful and precise consideration.
Exercise is programmed into the week and slotted in just as an appointment would be. The type of exercise is healthily adjusted dependent on what the person’s physical needs are at the time.
Finally, healthy people take structured time each day to allow their body to deeply relax. This is not left to chance and done if there’s time (which there invariably won’t be). Time is set aside (usually at the start of the day) for time that includes such things as meditation, breathing practices, journalling or yoga. These are the kinds of things that deeply calm and relax the nervous system and what sets you up to move into your day from a balanced state. Practices such as these also help to allow a balancing of the emotions and the mind.
Healthy people get the support they need in their lives to make this possible.
3. Healthy People Spend Time Every Day on Their Personal and Spiritual Growth
There are many different ways that this can look. It may include reading specific books, it may be a journalling practice, it may be prayer, meditation or listening to inspiring talks.
There are no set rules here, but it is doing what contributes to the development and quality of you as a human being. Ultimately, these kinds of things contribute to you being the best you that you can be.
4. Healthy People Live Their Life in a Confident and Empowered Way
Healthy people are clear on what situations are good for them. They speak up about what they need to those around them and they spend time with people who feel good for them to be around.
They do not allow others to treat them with disrespect, because they have worked at creating a healthy respect, esteem and love for themselves.
5. Healthy People Allow So Called “Negative” Events and Situations to be Valuable Learning Experiences
It has often been said that it is not what happens to us, but how we perceive what happens to us.
A healthy person allows themselves time to feel what they feel regarding a given situation to help process through their emotions in a healthy way.
They also look at what they need to be learning from each situation that is presented to them. They know that things that happen to them are no accident and that there is valuable learning to gain which will help them greatly in the future.
The end result is that they are able to see any so called “negative” situations as positive situations that are actually extremely helpful in the bigger picture of their life.
6. Healthy People Make it a Priority to do Things Every Day that They Enjoy
This is also not left to chance. Spending time doing things that they enjoy is just a natural part of who they are. These things are also very often a part of their purpose in life.
They allow a natural honouring of their innate gifts and talents and allow themselves to develop skills in areas that call to them.
7. Healthy People are Deeply in Touch with Their Purpose in Life
Many healthy people are not only in touch with what their individual purpose/s are for their time here on planet earth, but they are also concerned and connected with leaving a lasting legacy of some kind. They want their work to be remembered in some way. Remember, this can take all sorts of forms. Rose Kennedy considered her purpose in life to raise leaders. That is one powerful purpose!
No purpose is too small or too large if it is what you know you need to be doing.
Every day of your life counts. Engaging in a life that is fulfilling to you and that meets your needs is one of the greatest gifts you can give to your family and friends, acquaintances, strangers and the planet as a whole. Filling yourself up affects everything and everyone around you in a positive way.
We all know what it’s like to be around people who are healthy, enthusiastic and connected to what fulfils their soul.
You too can create this kind of life but you need to be prepared to say a big YES and take the necessary action to gather momentum in the direction that you desire to go.
Much love
Lisa
